Relieving the bottleneck by providing dedicated bandwidth directly to the desktop, the ES-3810 lets clients take advantage of switching technology—today! Intelligence at each port ensures data integrity and forwards packets at half or full duplex wire speeds with very low latency and high reliability. Using the new segment modules takes advantage of the ES-3810 design to connect shared hubs and workgroup switches to a department-level switch. The ES-3810, using ForeThought internetworking software, seamlessly connects 10 Mbps and 100 Mbps clients to servers and to the corporate ATM backbone. The tightly-integrated, application-specific switched silicon-based (AS3) architecture guarantees bandwidth to maximize performance. By supporting ATM Forum LAN Emulation (LANE) v1.0, the ES-3810 allows transparent operation of all existing applications and network protocols. The ability to logically group users into VLANs enables the ES-3810 to minimize overall network operating expenses involved in adding, moving, or changing users and their resources. Advanced network management capabilities make the ES-3810 easier to configure and its traffic monitoring features provide the statistics needed to optimize network design. The management module has its own processor and silicon-based statistic counters, enabling full frame-level RMON and SNMP-based management.
